UK Status Resident. Found throughout central and eastern England and south-eastern Scotland and other scattered locations in Britain. Montgomeryshire Status One very old record from the north-east of the county at Llanymynech Hill in 1930. Wingspan : M & F, 8-9mm. Confusion species It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. In some cases differences can be seen in various life stages. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Grassland and meadows. Foodplant Grasses. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on the leaf tip. Larva first forms narrow gallery, subsequent galleries are wider with a violet reflection. Pupates among the debris at the bottom of the foodplant. |
